All work and hanging out with family members and no physical contact beside the occasional high-five is simply not feasible for me.

I felt like I was losing my mind.

My solution: more high-fives. Also playing with kids. Having a 4-year-old and a 7-year-old attacking me and beeping my nose was pretty much exactly the right cure. I mean, besides going out and jumping someone for guerrilla cuddles.

...Now that I think about it, that sounds pretty awesome, actually.

ANYWAY. I should be going to bed, because I have my costume class tomorrow morning, and we've finally started sewing. Have I mentioned that I love sewing? I do. Right now I am wearing a shirt I put together myself. It started life as a 3x NaNo shirt and one of my brother's old button-downs. It's now awesome and comfy and excellent for horsing around with kids in. Also for screaming at the television.

My life sounds really interesting with few details. As soon as I explain what I'm talking about, it kind of goes down the drain.

FINALLY: Today in my boring required English class I started writing a sci-fi story. I really hope I can finish it, because it is the sort of thing my dad would read, and honestly? It'd be pretty great to finish something.

I love college. I love waking up twenty minutes before my class starts, getting there on time, and still looking presentable. I love taking only the classes that interest me and being able to drop classes that are more stress than they're worth. I love not being the person with the weirdest outfit I see all day. I love that on any given day, I pass at least three people wearing tie-dye. I love that people are actually polite enough to hold doors for strangers and say "Please" and "Thank you." I love that my roommate is totally awesome and we get along. I love being able to do almost everything I need to do for school over the internet. I love being around a large group of people that actually take learning seriously (but that's probably mostly because I don't live in Manzy with Lamar). I love having a bunch of free time because I read fast, freeing up time for my own projects. I love being able to go to the MU at nearly any time and having all sorts of food available. I love being able to afford it. I love that the government is paying for pretty much every aspect of my existence.

And now that I've written this post about how wonderful college is, I'm going to try and read an entire book and write a paper on it before I leave for Disneyland on Friday. Oh yeah.

Hoy es...

Today I am once again a prime number of years old. Also, I am now allowed to do magic outside of school. Woo!

ALSO ALSO TODAY WAS MY BEST BIRTHDAY IN SEVERAL YEARS.

I got a laptop. <33333~! Also a scanner and my mom picked up a wireless router so I'll have teh intarwebz in my room. And a bunch of art supplies and a book by Will Eisner and my whole drama class glomped me (seriously guys, I don't need to breathe, totally not, it's okay to SQUASH ME) and it is maybe possible that the latest in my string of ridiculous crushes on fellow drama students is actually an okay guy who is not actually hung up on someone and/or really mean. Also also also I did absolutely no work today and I am still really behind in all my classes, but I got to see my sister and I got a fucking laptop so really (and it's a very nice laptop) I am A-OK.

People I don't even know that well were shouting Happy Birthday at me in the halls. It was really super cool.

I just finished writing a book.

For Want of a Physicist wound up being 88,587 words long, according to Word. It is thirty chapters and an epilogue and even though I started the pre-work about a year ago, only took me a little over eight months to actually write.

Of course, now I get to work on reformatting it to publish it as an actual book, because I will not be complete until I have a physical copy of it to carry around in my backpack and wave in people's faces when they ask me what I was doing last year or if I expect to be able to make a living as a writer.

In related news, I now regret the fact that there is no way my handle could ever look like a name. Because I totally don't know how I feel about having "Annie Cosper" on the front. That doesn't seem right to me, you know? But really, how silly does "Queen of Zan" look on a cover? PRETTY SILLY. My other option is Queenie Tzan, 'cause I'm that much of a loser, but they all sound terrible to me. Whatever. I still have a ton of stuff to do before I start worrying about that.

HAHAHAHA NOW I NEVER HAVE TO WRITE ABOUT INCEST AGAIN.

...er, knock on wood?

P.S. It's finished now, so you really have no excuse, now do you?

So today was the regional competition for Academic Decathlon, and we did pretty well. I got bronzes in Economics and Essay, I screamed really loudly, and, oh yeah, WE TOOK DISTRICT. Like, we won by 2000 points. And a 2000 point margin when it's out of 60000 is pretty good. Especially since we weren't sure we had won.

We also had the highest scorer at the competition (our captain, Rachel), and we won Super Quiz and stole the goddamn trophy practically out of Shadow Mountain's hands.

Decker, our coach, cried. Not kidding. Fifty year old six foot six white man in a Hawaiian shirt trying not to cry as they hand him this four and a half foot trophy. Seriously, it was awesome.

So now, not only do I get three hundred dollars cash (well, check, really--the important thing is that it's money I can actually spend), I also get a $2000 a year renewable scholarship. And a dozen candy bars.

Also, gloating rights for forever--it was my first year on the team and I broke 6 thousand. Elizabeth, who has been in the class for four years and just managed to make the team, also broke six for the first time. Brina, who is on the team for the second year in a row and her third year in the class, hasn't ever broke six.

So basically, I win.

Except, State is over Spring Break...the same weekend I was supposed to go to New York. Good thing I haven't been keeping up on my payments, eh? Oh well. Can't very well let Decker down now.

p.s. EEEEEEEEEEEE.
