We are men of action!
Two points of order:
One: Does anyone remember a Supernatural fic where the boys investigated some mysterious poltergeist-like activity in a housing development, and then it turned out the builder had been sacrificing kids and putting them in the walls and their crazy vengeful spirits is what was plaguing the people in the houses? It was super good and creepy and (I don't think) shippy at all, and I can't fiiiiiiind it. :/
Two: boys.
That is all.
It was totally awesome, you guys! It was this steampunky show about x-rays and scientific progress, and it was done in the round, set up like a circus, with THOMAS EDISON as the ringmaster. And the costumes! They were so great! I was a little in love with one of the guys, which was awkward, because I was sitting next to Jesse! Also spats. And tiny little hats. And cannnnnessssssssss omg guys.
The effects. Were so cool. It was about x-rays, of course, and they had projection screens set up everywhere to show them off, and at one point the entire cast came out in their regular costumes with GLOWING BONE OUTLINES over bits. It was hardcore.
And the music! The pre-show music was all Dresden Dolls and Abney Park, it was fantastic. Like I recognized all of it. Also all of it was minorly obscene. It was great. And then, during the show, they had a live band playing creepy incidental music, and there were two full-on musical numbers, which would have seemed weird in any other show, but since it was all vaudevillian and circusy, it wasn't weird at all.
And it was in the round! In the round. Like I said, circusy. It was very well done, too. Shows in the round are crazy difficult, but they had it set up so there was only a stage in a circle, which prevented the actors from feeling too wandery. It was also very stylized and choreographed, which was just perfect with the rest of the show. And there were all these iron accents and old-fashioned lightbulbs and tattered posters and and and
It was a good show, guys. I think my paper on it might just read:
OLD SCHOOL.
